5 WPIAL boys to watch at the PIAA Class AAA track and field championships

Here are five WPIAL boys to watch at the PIAA Class AAA track and field championships Friday and Saturday at Shippensburg.
Matt Busche, Franklin Regional, senior
The Panthers' senior has the fastest time (1:53.31) in the state in the 800. Busche will need to fend off four other runners who have times under 1:55.0. Seneca Valley junior Seth Ketler is seeded sixth.
Zach Gehm, Seneca Valley, senior
The Raiders' senior is competing in two events — javelin and discus. He was the WPIAL champion in both events last week. His throw of 189 feet in the discus has him seeded No. 1 in the state, and his throw of 193-9 in the javelin is the second longest throw in the state.
Eudel Moreta, Hempfield, senior
The Dominican Republic native has the second best time in the 200-meter dash and also is competing in the long jump. He also qualified to compete in the 400, but opted to pull out of that event.
Ayden Owens, North Allegheny, senior
The Tigers senior and Southern Cal recruit won the 110- and 300-hurdles at the 2017 PIAA championships. He won the long jump, 110 and 300 hurdles in the WPIAL this season. He is seeded No. 1 in all three events.
Alex Trower, Penn Hills, senior
The Penn Hills senior has the fastest time in the state in the 100-meter dash (10.69). There are 16 runners who have times less than 11 seconds, including four others from the WPIAL.
