Bishop Canevin, East Allegheny to rematch in PIAA girls semifinals

WPIAL finalists Bishop Canevin and East Allegheny will rematch Monday night with a trip to Hershey awaiting the winner.

The teams will play at Gateway in a PIAA Class 3A semifinal.

When they met two weeks ago, East Allegheny led for most of the night and was only about four minutes away from winning a WPIAL title. But two-time defending WPIAL champion Bishop Canevin rallied late and won 56-52 for its third consecutive title.

They're among five WPIAL girls teams that have reached the state semifinals.

The PIAA scheduled Mars and Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic in a doubleheader Tuesday at Bald Eagle Area. Mars plays Archbishop Carroll at 5:30 p.m., and CWNC plays Berks Catholic at 7 p.m.
