Herald spotlight athlete: Fox Chapel’s Robby Shymansky

Fox Chapel junior Robby Shymansky won the WPIAL Class AAA singles title May 4. He avenged a loss to Peters Township's Connor Bruce from the finals in 2017. Shymansky plans to attend Yale in the fall of 2019.

If you could trade places with anybody for a day, who would you choose?

Tom Brady.

What sport would you be playing if not tennis?

Hockey.

In your three years of playing high school tennis, who has been your toughest opponent?

Michael Dickson of Downingtown East. He beat me in the PIAA finals last year and also the year before. He won it all both years.

What three words best describe you?

Humorous, determined and athletic.

Who's your favorite tennis player?

Dominic Thiem.

What's your favorite vacation destination?

Florida.

What's your favorite TV show?

“Stranger Things.”

What three people would you like to have dinner with?

Nick Saban, Tucker Carlson and John Calipari.

What movie could you watch over and over?

“Hoosiers.”

Where would you like to go that you've never been before?

Iceland.

What do you do to get ready before a match?

I just try to get mentally prepared and warmed up properly.

What three items have to be in your refrigerator?

Chocolate milk, eggs and pineapple.

Is Duke's Grayson Allen still the person you'd like to see disappear from public view or has he been replaced?

I'm going with Coach K. There's just something about the Duke program I don't like.

Is there a food you refuse to eat?

Most vegetables.
