Hershey ousts Franklin Regional from PIAA girls lacrosse playoffs

District 3 champion Hershey took a five-goal lead in the first half to take control of a PIAA Class AAA first-round game en route to a 14-6 victory over Franklin Regional on Tuesday at Lower Dauphin High School in Hummelstown.

Hershey, from District 3, will play Kennard-Dale in the PIAA semifinals Saturday at a time and site to be determined.

Franklin Regional trailed 7-2 at halftime. The Panthers finished the season 14-5.

In other first-round games involving WPIAL teams, Hampton lost to Kennard-Dale, 14-8, and Quaker Valley beat Fairview, 18-7, in Class AA.

In Class AAA, Sewickley Academy lost to State College, 15-6, and Pine-Richland lost to Wilson, 12-9.

On the boys' side, Pine-Richland beat State College, 18-2. Peters Township lost to Cumberland Valley, 11-10, and Manheim Township defeated North Allegheny, 15-5, in Class AAA. In Class AA, Mars beat Cathedral Prep, 20-8, and Hampton lost to Palmyra, 7-5.
