High school roundup: Vereb nets 300th win at Peters Township girls top Mt. Lebanon

Regan LaVigna scored the lone goal as No. 2 Peters Township earned a 1-0 win over Mt. Lebanon (4-5-1, 2-3) in a Section 2-AAAA girls soccer game Wednesday.

It was the 300th career victory for Peters Township coach Pat Vereb.

The Indians, who improved to 9-1 overall and 4-1 in section play, bounced back from Monday's 2-1 loss to Canon-McMillan.

Emma Sawich posted the shutout.

Thomas Jefferson 1, Oakland Catholic 0 — Julia Saltzman scored on an assist from Lia Manning as No. 4 Thomas Jefferson (9-1, 7-1) won in Section 3-AAA. Bailey Keck posted the shutout.

Ambridge 1, South Fayette 0 — Brandie Nauman scored at 2:03 of the second half to lead Ambridge (9-1-2, 5-1-2) to victory in Section 4-AAA.

Waynesburg 10, Brownsville 1 — In Section 3-AA, Madison Clayton and Rhea Kijowski each scored twice to guide No. 3 Waynesburg (10-1, 7-0) to victory.

Chartiers-Houston 3, Beth-Center 1 — Alyssa Daugherty, Ama Bimpong and Carolyn Makey scored to lead Chartiers-Houston (3-7-1, 2-4-1) to a Section 2-A win.

Seton LaSalle 1, Bentworth 0 — Mo Obiri scored the lone goal as Seton LaSalle (8-2, 6-1) score a Section 2-A win.

Canon-McMillan 3, Fox Chapel 3 (OT) — Annabel Thomas scored twice and Addie Roman added a goal for No. 3 Canon-McMillan (6-1-2), which tied Fox Chapel (7-3-1) in a nonsection game despite trailing 2-0 at halftime.

Upper St. Clair 4, Mars 1 — Jane Madson and Nikki Gibbons each scored twice as Upper St. Clair (4-4-2) won a nonsection game against Class 3A No. 3 Mars (8-1).
