The Kiski Valley rugby boys and girls teams lost in the Rugby PA state championships Sunday at Cumberland Valley.

The boys dropped a 39-5 decision to District 3's Hempfield in the Club Division II final. The girls lost 26-20 to West Shore United of Camp Hill in the Club Division final.

The boys (6-3) were aiming for their second title in three years. David Schuffert had the lone try for the Titans.

The girls (5-2), searching for their first state title, lost in the finals for the third consecutive season. They started the year two players short of a full lineup but won a game short-handed and added to the roster throughout the season. Tia Gillespie, Jessica Ayres, Sophia Beining and Lily Kastelic had tries.

Kiski Valley was the only club to send its boys and girls team to state championship weekend.
