PIAA baseball pairings: WPIAL guaranteed at least 2 state finalists

The WPIAL is guaranteed that at least two teams will reach the state baseball championships, and the district could have a finalist in all six classifications.

The classifications guaranteed finalists are Class 3A and A.

Vincentian Academy plays Greensburg Central Catholic in a Class A semifinal at 4 p.m. Monday at Wild Things Park in Washington. Brownsville faces South Side Beaver at the same stadium in a Class 3A semifinal at 6:30 p.m.

Sites and times were announced Friday.

Canon-McMillian and West Allegheny are traveling halfway across the state Monday to face teams from District 1, while Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic and Ringgold visit Slippery Rock University to face District 10 teams.

The championships are June 14-15 at Penn State.

Class 6A

7-1 Canon-McMillan vs. 1-2 Council Rock North at Greene Township Park, Scotland, 4:30 p.m.

1-1 Bensalem vs. 12-1 La Salle College at Neumann University, Aston, 4 p.m.

Class 5A

7-3 West Allegheny vs. 1-2 Marple Newtown at Greene Township Park, Scotland, 2 p.m.

3-3 Lower Dauphin vs. 12-1 Archbishop Carroll at Ephrata HS, 6:30 p.m.

Class 4A

7-2 Ringgold vs. 10-2 Meadville at Slippery Rock University, 6:30 p.m.

2-1 Valley View vs. 11-1 Northwestern Lehigh at Central Columbia HS, Bloomsburg, 4 p.m.

Class 3A

7-1 Brownsville vs. 7-3 South Side Beaver at Wild Things Park, 6:30 p.m.

3-1 Lancaster Catholic vs. 4-1 Montoursville at Walter Stump Stadium, Pine Grove, 4 p.m.

Class 2A

7-1 Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic vs. 10-1 Rocky Grove at Slippery Rock University, 4 p.m.

3-1 Camp Hill vs. 11-1 Schuylkill Haven/12-1 Neumann-Goretti winner at Ephrata HS, 4 p.m.

Class A

7-1 Vincentian Academy vs. 7-3 Greensburg Central Catholic at Wild Things Park, 4 p.m.

4-1 Sayre vs. 5-2 Southern Fulton at Bald Eagle Area, Bellefonte, 4 p.m.
