Because of adverse winter weather that has impacted certain areas of the state, a couple of district swimming championship meets will not conclude until Sunday evening.

As a result, the PIAA has announced that the posting of automatic and time qualifiers to the state championships at Bucknell University now will be Monday at noon.

Normally, the qualifying lists are posted Sunday at noon.

In a statement released by the PIAA, officials said they “appreciate everyone's patience and understanding of this. The safety of our students, coaches and spectators is our first priority in conducting our district and state meets. We will do our best to get the information posted as quickly as possible.”

Winter Storm Riley, with its severe wind, rain and snow, battered many parts of the Northeast the past several days.

The WPIAL AAA and AA championships concluded Friday with several new records established.

The top three AAA finishers and top four in AA automatically qualified for the PIAA championships, set for March 14 to 17.

The PIAA will select additional qualifiers based on times recorded at the district and regional meets throughout the state.

In 2017 and years prior, the PIAA has set the competition list for states at 32 for individual events and 24 for relays. The PIAA is expected to again follow that standard for this year's championships
