PIAA postpones basketball semifinals to Saturday, finals next week

With the state blanketed in snow, the PIAA postponed its boys and girls basketball championship until next week.

The state finals are now Monday-Wednesday at Giant Center in Hershey.

The PIAA also postponed the remaining semifinals to Saturday.

The Pine-Richland boys will face Roman Catholic at 1 p.m. Saturday at Chambersburg in a Class 6A semifinal.

The Mars and Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic girls teams, originally scheduled to play their semifinal doubleheader at Bald Eagle Area, now will play Saturday at State College. Mars faces Archbishop Carroll at 1 p.m. in Class 5A, and CWNC plays Berks Catholic at 2:30 p.m. in 4A.

Three WPIAL teams already have qualified for the state finals.

The Bishop Canevin girls play West Catholic at noon Monday in a Class 2A final.

The Mars boys play Abington Heights at 8 p.m.,Tuesday in a Class 5A final.

The Our Lady of the Sacred Heart boys play either Holy Cross or Constitution at 2 p.m. Tuesday in a Class 2A final. The eastern semifinal for 2A boys wasn’t played yet.

A Boys, 2 p.m.

3A Girls, 6 p.m.

4A Boys, 8 p.m.

Tuesday (March 27)

A Girls, noon

2A Boys, 2 p.m.

6A Girls, 6 p.m.

5A Boys, 8 p.m.

Wednesday (March 28)

4A Girls, noon

3A Boys, 2 p.m.

5A Girls, 6 p.m.

6A Boys, 8 p.m.
