PIAA softball pairings: 2 WPIAL finals rematches scheduled Monday

Eleven days after West Allegheny and Thomas Jefferson met in the WPIAL Class 5A finals, the two softball teams will rematch in the PIAA semifinals.

So too will West Greene and Monessen, who met in the WPIAL Class A final. The two all-WPIAL semifinals are each scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday on separate fields at Peterswood Park.

The PIAA announced sites and times on Friday.

Both WPIAL championship games were close. West Allegheny won 4-2, and West Greene won 5-4.

The PIAA championship are June 14-15 at Penn State.

Monday's games

Class 6A

7-1 Hempfield vs. 11-2 Nazareth at Chambersburg HS, 4 p.m.

1-5 Neshaminy vs. 11-1 Parkland at Patriots Park, Allentown, 1 p.m.

Class 5A

7-1 West Allegheny vs. 7-2 Thomas Jefferson at Peterswood Park, 2 p.m.

3-3 Solanco vs. 3-2 Lampeter Strasburg at Millersville University, 6 p.m.

Class 4A

7-3 Mt. Pleasant vs. 9-1 Punxsutawney at St. Francis University, 2:30 p.m.

11-1 Bethlehem Catholic vs. 2-2 Nanticoke at Pine Grove HS, noon

Class 3A

7-1 Southmoreland vs. 6-1 Phillipsburg-Osceola at St. Francis University, 5 p.m.

2-1 Holy Redeemer vs. 11-1 North Schuylkill at Central Columbia HS, 6 p.m.

Class 2A

7-4 Mohawk vs. 6-1 Mount Union at Dubois City Park, 5 p.m.

1-1 Bristol vs. 3-1 Upper Dauphin at Lyons Field, Fleetwood, 6 p.m.

Class A

7-1 West Greene vs. 7-2 Monessen at Peterswood Park, 2 p.m.

11-1 Williams Valley vs. 6-1 Claysburg-Kimmel at Bald Eagle Area, HS, 4 p.m.
