Seneca Valley, Quaker Valley & Laurel Win WPIAL Girls Team X-Country

Brianna Schwartz of Shaler captured a three-peat at the WPIAL Cross-Country Championships on Thursday, as she once again proved unbeatable at Cooper’s Lake Campground in Butler.

Schwartz, a senior, secured the first-place finish in Class AAA in the 3.1-mile trek with an impressive time of 17:25, besting North Allegheny’s Madeleine Davison, the second-place finisher, by more than 40 seconds.

In the team rankings, Seneca Valley took first with 87 points, with Mount Lebanon and North Allegheny rounding out the top three teams, all of which qualify for the PIAA Championship in Hershey in November.

In girls Class AA, Uniontown senior Jade Bellotti edged Riley Kwiatowski of Greensburg Salem.

Quaker Valley was dominant in the team scoring, accumulating just 43 points to cruise to first place. Knoch and South Fayette finished second and third, respectively.

Vincentian Academy sophomore Marianne Abdalah successfully defended her title in Class A, finishing more than one minute ahead of second-place finisher Lauren Gronbeck of Eden Christian Academy.

Laurel edged Abdalah’s Vincentian Academy by just three points for first place, with Our Lady of the Sacred Heart rounding out the top three team qualifiers.
