WPIAL softball playoff clinchings through May 6

With just a couple of days left in the 2018 WPIAL softball regular season, here are the teams that have punched their ticket to the district postseason. Class 6A
(6A scenarios: Bethel Park, Mt. Lebanon and Peters Township can clinch with a win in section finale. Bethel Park hosts Baldwin, Mt. Lebanon hosts Upper St. Clair and Peters Township hosts Canon-McMillan on Tuesday. If Mt. Lebanon loses, it needs either Bethel Park or Peters Township to lose to clinch. If Peters Township loses, it will need either Mt. Lebanon or Peters Township to lose to clinch. If Bethel Park loses, it needs Peters Township to lose to clinch. Shaler can clinch with a win at Pine-Richland on Monday).
Class 5A
(5A scenarios: Gateway, Kiski Area, Plum and Greensburg Salem can clinch with a win in section finale. Gateway hosts Woodland Hills, Kiski Area is at Armstrong, Plum plays at Franklin Regional and Greensburg Salem is at Penn-Trafford, all on Tuesday).
Class 4A
Beaver
(4A scenarios: If Highlands loses at Knoch on Monday, Both Derry and Uniontown will clinch. Keystone Oaks can clinch with wins over West Mifflin on Monday and South Fayette Tuesday and a West Mifflin loss to Elizabeth Forward on Tuesday. The Ambridge at New Castle winner on Tuesday will clinch).
Class 3A
Waynesburg
(3A scenarios: Valley can clinch with a win over Deer Lakes TBA).
Class 2A
Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic
Laurel
(2A scenarios: Northgate can clinch with at least one victory when it hosts Springdale in a doubleheader on Tuesday. Springdale can clinch if it wins both games against Northgate).
Class A
(A scenarios: Western Beaver needs two more section wins to clinch. It play at Union on Tuesday, hosts Aliquippa Wednesday and hosts Quigley Catholic TBA. Quigley Catholic needs two more section wins to clinch. It will host Rochester Tuesday and plays at Western Beaver TBA. Cornell needs to finish ahead of Quigley Catholic to clinch. It hosts Sewickley Academy on Tuesday, is at Rochester on Wednesday and at Union on Thursday. Bishop Canevin can clinch with a win over Jeannette on Monday).
