Bentworth’s Ryan Moessner earns 2024 Trib HSSN Boys Soccer Player of the Year honors

Ryan Moessner, Jr., F, Bentworth

Taking his teammates on a journey that began in Washington County and ended in Mechanicsburg, junior Ryan Moessner left the deepest footprint on the highest-scoring boys soccer team in the WPIAL.

An electric goal-scoring threat who racked up tallies by the bunches, Moessner scored 45 goals to lead Bentworth (22-1) to its second straight WPIAL Class A championship and a runner-up finish in the PIAA playoffs.

For his efforts, Moessner is the TribLive HSSN Boys Soccer Player of the Year.

Also the WPIAL Class A player of the year, Moessner and his fast-paced Bentworth teammates stacked up 128 goals and allowed only five in 23 games.

The Bearcats took a streak of 11 straight shutouts into the PIAA final, which they lost to Lancaster Mennonite, 1-0, in overtime, at Eagle View Middle School in Mechanicsburg.

Moessner will take 88 career goals into his senior season.

All-stars

Roman Agostoni, Sr., MF, Latrobe

The TribLive Westmoreland Player of the Year, he was named all-state and All-WPIAL. Scored 33 goals and handed out 15 assists while tallying school-record 63 career goals.

Danny Battista, Sr., F, South Park

The WPIAL Class 2A Player of the Year, he was an All-WPIAL and all-state selection for the WPIAL champion Eagles. Scored 21 goals.

Milo Chiu, Sr., MF, Fox Chapel

Helped lead Fox Chapel to a WPIAL 4A championship. An All-WPIAL and all-state performer for the Foxes.

Aedan Costa, Sr., MF, Moon

An All-WPIAL and all-state player for the high-powered Tigers, he had 23 goals to pace the WPIAL 4A champions.

Danny Christafano, Sr., MF, Franklin Regional

An All-WPIAL selection who powered the Panthers’ run to the WPIAL 3A championship game. Had 26 goals and 13 assists.

Nathan Katari, Sr., MF, North Allegheny

An All-WPIAL, all-state and all-section pick, he had 10 goals for lead the section-champion Tigers.

John Krug, Sr., F, Chartiers Valley

An All-WPIAL and all-state performer for the Colts, who reached the WPIAL 3A quarterfinals. Scored a team-high 22 goals during regular season.

Adam Kuchera, Jr., MF, Canon-McMillan

An All-WPIAL and all-state player, he helped guide Big Macs to WPIAL 4A quarterfinals. Led team with 25 goals.

Daniel Maddock, Sr., F, Norwin

An All-WPIAL player who fueled the Knights’ attack, he had 22 goals and 18 assists. Finished with 58 goals and 35 assists in his career.

Brayden Miller, Sr., MF, Thomas Jefferson

An All-WPIAL and all-state pick, he had 26 goals during the regular season. Helped Jaguars reach WPIAL 3A quarterfinals.

Michael Miller, Sr., D, Winchester Thurston

A versatile defender, he had 20 goals during the regular season and led Winchester Thurston to a section title. Named all-state and All-WPIAL.

Tyler Prex, Sr., MF, Seneca Valley

The WPIAL 4A Player of the Year was named All-WPIAL and all-state. A 20-goal scorer, he was selected to Top Drawer All-American Game.

Abdul Wahab Shuiab, Sr., MF, Avonworth

An All-WPIAL and all-state selection, he guided the Antelopes to WPIAL Class 2A title game for first time.

Parker Weiss, Sr., MF, Peters Township

An All-WPIAL and all-state pick, he helped Indians win a section championship and was a section player of the year.
