Last year, Will Nesbitt of Butler beat Vivek Nimgaonkar of Shady Side Academy in a hard fought three-set match in the WPIAL Semifinals before moving on to win the district title. History repeated itself Friday at North Allegheny as Nesbitt beat Nimgaonkar again to claim a second straight WPIAL Class AAA Boys Singles Tennis Championship. Meanwhile in Class AA, Sewickley Academy teammates clashed in the title match where Colin Kaye swept past Grayson Geller in straight sets giving the Panthers junior district gold. Here are all of the results from the 2012 WPIAL Boys Singles Tennis Playoffs.

The championship and consolation matches can be heard archived here on the MSA Sports Network.

2012 WPIAL CLASS AAA BOYS SINGLES TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP:

Will Nesbit (Butler) over Vivek Nimgaonkar (Shady Side Academy) 6-3, 6-4  (MSA)
This was a rematch of a semifinal in 2011 between defending AAA champion Nesbitt and Nimgaonkar.  Nesbitt was dominant in the early going as he baffled Nimgaonkar into a number of unforced errors.  Nesbitt would take advantage with his share of winners en route to the first set, 6-3.  Nesbitt's dominant play would continue into the second set s he took an early 4-1 advantage.  Nesbitt's game would start to dessert him, however, as he was creating his own share of unforced errors, and the veteran Nimgaonkar would break Nesbitt's serve twice to get back to 5-4.  Nimgaonkar's service would betray him in the end, and he would double-fault to end the match, 6-4.  Nesbitt thus became a 2-time WPIAL Class AAA Singles Champion and, along with Nimgaonkar, will move on to the upcoming PIAA State Championships.
