After winning its pigtail match on Monday versus Allderdice, North Allegheny had a tough draw when it faced one of the toughest teams in the state in the preliminary round in Hershey. Central Dauphin dominated action, winning 10 of 14 bouts including six straight from 132-170. North Allegheny picked up wins from Dom Forys, Blynn Shideler, Clay Byerly, and Alex DeCiantis. The lose dropped North Allegheny into the consolations, where they will wrestle District 6 Champion Mifflin County on Friday at 10:00 AM.

Franklin Regional, without two starters, had a strong showing in their match Thursday against Jersey Shore. Franklin picked up 11 victories on the day, including wins in seven straight from 126-170 and winning ten of eleven from 126-285. Key wins included falls by Kyle Berk, Josh Maruca, Josh Shields, and Luke Fleck as well as technical falls by Tyler Smith, Max Kubas, and Brett Zanotto. Franklin Regional advances to the quarterfinals where they will wrestle District 1 Champion Owen J. Roberts Friday at 2:00 PM.

Canon McMillan began its quest to defend its PIAA crown with a great start on Thursday. Canon McMillan won nine bouts, including five straight from 182-106, to advance to the quarterfinals Friday. Canon McMillan was led to victory with four falls by their upper weights, Cody Wiercioch, Steve LaFrance, Alex Campbell, and Angelo Broglia. Canon McMillan's match on Friday will be a rematch of the 2012 PIAA Championship, as they wrestle District 10 Champion McDowell, who they beat last year 35-20. The match begins at 2:00 PM and can be heard here on the MSA Sports Network.

After coming to an exciting finish last weekend, the WPIAL teams in AA have struggled out of the gates in Hershey. Burrell and South Fayette both lost tough matches on Thursday to fall down to the consolations.

Burrell won six matches versus Bermudian Springs, with major decisions from Steven Edwards and Corey Falleroni as well as three forfeit victories. But Bermudian Springs, who rattled off four straight wins from 113-132 and three more from 160-182, were able to win all the swing matches en route to a victory. Burrell falls to the consolations where they will wrestle District 2 Champion Western Wayne at 8:00 AM Friday.

South Fayette actually did one better than Burrell, where they split the matches won at seven a piece. Despite winning five of six matches from 152-220, including a major decision from Jared Walker and a fall from Zach Walker, they fell short due to bonus points given up. West Branch outscored South Fayette 12-5 in the bonus, with their points coming from four falls. South Fayette will also wrestle in the consolations Friday at 8:00 AM when they take on District 11 Runner-Up Saucon Valley.
