Another Derry boys volleyball player is headed to a Division I college program.

Heavy-armed outside hitter Jason Geary signed Wednesday with St. Francis (Pa.).

His front-line teammate, John Kerr, a 6-6 middle hitter, recently signed with Penn State.

“When I went up there, it felt like home and all the guys on the team were great,” Geary said of St. Francis. “Just the whole atmosphere was great.”

He was recruited to play opposite-side hitter. He also had an offer from Lees-McRae in Banner Elk, N.C.

Geary, a 6-foot-5 senior, also played wide receiver and outside linebacker for the football team. He had an offer to play football at Lock Haven.

He has amassed 522 kills, 292 digs, 101 blocks and 33 aces in his career. He and Kerr have helped the Trojans reach the PIAA Class 2A quarterfinals.

Derry, the WPIAL’s third-place team, will play District 10 champion Meadville at 3 p.m. Saturday at Penn Hills.
