High school roundup: Butler boys topple Seneca Valley in Section 1

Tate Mohney netted the game-winning goal with 10 minutes remaining to lead Butler to a 2-1 victory over Seneca Valley (4-2-1, 3-2) in a Section 1-AAAA boys soccer game Thursday night.

Justin Stewart scored on a pass from Peyton Seibert in the first half, and Andrew Chwalik earned the win net for Butler (5-2, 4-1).

North Allegheny 9, North Hills 0 — Josh Luchini, Cam Yurick, Shawn Hatwater and Sam Wilson all scored twice to help No. 5 North Allegheny (8-2, 5-0) to a Section 1-AAAA win.

Baldwin 2, Bethel Park 1 — Joey Moeller scored with 4:05 left to give Baldwin (3-8, 1-4) a Section 2-AAAA victory.

Upper St. Clair 3, Mt. Lebanon 0 — Aidan Gordley scored twice and Ben Burlovic added a goal as Upper St. Clair (3-3-1, 3-2) picked up a Section 2-AAAA win.

Ringgold 3, Trinity 2 — Jackson O'Connor, Wyatt Kaufman and Kobe Norfleet scored to help Ringgold (4-2-2, 3-0-2) to a win in Section 3-AAA.

Thomas Jefferson 5, West Mifflin 2 — AJ Meshanko had two goals, and Liam Giger, Preston Lutz and Tristan Allava also scored as Thomas Jefferson (3-3-2, 2-1-2) won in Section 4-AAA.

South Park 1, Elizabeth Forward 0 (2OT) — Logan Mannheimer scored in double overtime to lift No. 2 South Park (8-0, 5-0) to a Section 1-AA victory.

Serra Catholic 7, Geibel 0 — Brandon Borek and Joey Folino each had three goals to lift Serra Catholic (5-3, 4-2) to a Section 2-A win. Teddy Altmeter had the shutout.

Bentworth 5, Beth-Center 0 — Wyatt Selvoski had two goals and Levi Jordan had two assists to lift Bentworth (7-3, 5-1) to a Section 4-A win.

Seton LaSalle 8, Brentwood 0 — Kellen Krebs had four goals and three assists, and Darryl Daniels added three goals and two assists to help No. 1 Seton LaSalle (9-0, 7-0) to a Section 4-A win.

Girls soccer

South Fayette 2, West Allegheny 1 — In Section 4-AAA, Helina VanBibber and Sara Meindl scored to lead South Fayette (6-1-2, 5-1-1) to victory.

Seton LaSalle 5, Carlynton 0 — Mo Obiri had four goals, and Kaylee Russman posted a shutout as Seton LaSalle (6-2) won a nonsection game.

Girls golf

Section 2-AAAUniontown junior Danae Rugola shot 1-under par 71 to finish first at the Section 2-AAA qualifier at Southpointe Golf Club. Canon-McMillan's Taylor Waller (79), Moon's Rhianna Firmstone (89) and Upper St. Clair's Mary Groniger (90) also qualified for the WPIAL championship, set for Oct. 4 at Diamond Run Golf Club.
