High school roundup for Jan. 12: Quaker Valley boys complete undefeated regular season

Coletrane Washington scored 25 points to lift Class 4A No. 1 Quaker Valley boys basketball to an 80-40 win over Summit Academy to complete an undefeated regular season.

Ryan Stowers had 16 points and Ricky Guss added 15 for the Quakers (21-0).

Bethel Park 78, Central Valley 69 — Led by Alex Mullen's 19 points, Bethel Park (13-9) won a nonsection game. Ryan Meis had 14 points in the fourth quarter, including going 8 for 8 at the free-throw line. Josh Kline scored 28 for Class 4A No. 5 Central Valley (14-7).

Brownsville 62, California 50 — Shandon Marshall had 30 points to guide Brownsville (11-11) to a nonsection triumph.

Butler 69, Armstrong 61 — Luke Michalek had 13 points and Ethan Morton scored 12 for Butler (18-4) in a nonsection win. Dawson Porter scored 19 points for Armstrong (8-14).

Canon-McMillan 80, Washington 40 — Drew Engel and Tommy Samosky each had 15 points as Canon-McMillan (20-2) captured a nonsection victory.

CW North Catholic 60, Monessen 55 (OT) — Mike Dramble had 18 points as Class 3A No. 5 Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic (11-11) won a nonsection game. Lyndon Henderson had 25 points, including six 3-pointers, for Monessen (13-8).

Central Catholic 52, Fox Chapel 45 — Carson Cohen scored game-high 22 points, but the Class 6A No. 3 Foxes (17-5) fell to No. 5 Central Catholic (14-8).

Deer Lakes 59, Burrell 38 — Josh Solomon scored a game-high 16 points as Deer Lakes (12-9) cruised to a nonsection win over Burrell. Logan Bitar scored 12 points for Burrell (10-12).

Frazier 58, Winchester Thurston 48 — Justin Novak had 24 points and 15 rebounds for Frazier (9-12) in a nonsection win.

Gateway 73, North Hills 53 — Mark Bozicevic had 23 points, including seven 3-pointers, as Gateway (12-10) won a nonsection contest.

Greensburg Salem 76, Derry 46 — Marvel McGowan netted 33 points and Dante Parsons had 13 as Greensburg Salem (12-10) won a nonsection game. Conner Watt had 19 points to lead Derry (8-12).

Jeannette 89, Saltsburg 55 — Tre Cunningham scored 28 points and Anthony Johnson had 20 to lead Jeannette to an easy nonsection victory against District 6 Saltsburg.

Cunningham, who made six 3-pointers, scored 14 points in each half. Johnson, who made five 3-pointers in the final quarter, when the teams combined for 54 points. John Calandroella scored 17 points for Saltsburg. He made five 3-pointers, four in the fourth quarter.

Latrobe 82, Altoona 53 — Reed Fenton scored 29 points to lift the Wildcats to a nonsection victory over visiting Altoona.

Bryce Butler had 15 points, and Marcus Dudzenski added 13 for Latrobe (15-7).

Laurel Highlands 74, Uniontown 63 — Bryce Laskey's 38 points led Laurel Highlands (14-8) to a nonsection win.

Mars 76, Shenango 60 — Robby Carmody tallied 38 points as Class 5A No. 1 Mars (18-4) won a nonsection game. Mars led 43-20 at halftime.

New Castle 73, Peters Township 50 — Marcus Hooker had 20 points to lead Class 4A No. 2 New Castle (18-4) to a nonsection victory.

Norwin 52, McKeesport 51 — Josh Ratesic scored 19 points to help Norwin (11-11) end the season on a high note by defeating Class 5A No. 5 McKeesport (14-8).

Serra Catholic 58, Eden Christian Academy 51 — Jimmy Moon had 24 points for Class 2A No. 4 Serra Catholic (18-4) in a nonsection win.

South Fayette 61, Chartiers Valley 55 — Conner Mislan had 26 points for South Fayette (15-7) in a nonsection win.

Trinity 83, Waynesburg 49 — Jeff Ecker scored 15 points, and Dylan Kern had 14 as No. 2 Trinity (18-4) won a nonsection game. Aaron Yorio had 25 points for Waynesburg (4-18).

Valley 68, Plum 55 — The playoff-bound Vikings broke the game open with a 21-point fourth to defeat nonsection rival Plum. Dru Stokes led Valley (13-4) with 16 points, and Chase Fink led Plum (6-16) with 19 points.

Springdale 65, Avella 37 — Michael Zolnierczyk scored a game-high 14 points for Springdale (12-8) in a nonsection victory.

Girls basketball

Beaver Falls 55, Apollo-Ridge 48 — Megan Ost led Apollo-Ridge (10-12) with 20 points as Beaver Falls (17-5) defeated the Vikings in nonsection play.

Bishop Canevin 60, South Fayette 41 — Bri Allen had 17 points as Class 3A No. 1 Bishop Canevin (17-4) won a nonsection contest.

Blackhawk 63, Hempfield 45 — Tailyn Silver had 18 points and 14 rebounds, and Mackenzie Amalia and Mady Aulbach each had 14 points for Class 4A No. 2 Blackhawk (18-2) in a nonsection victory. Allison Podkul scored 19 points to lead Hempfield (11-11).

Burrell 49, Riverview 34 — The Bucs put up 19 points in the third quarter to pull away in a nonsection game. Brittany Dunn led Burrell (7-12) with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Alyssa Cappa led Riverview (11-10) with 15 points.

California 55, Albert Gallatin 46 — Bailey Vig scored 24 points to guide California (14-7) to a nonsection victory. Abby King had 24 points for Albert Gallatin (7-15).

Canon-McMillan 66, Seneca Valley 44 — McKenna Gross had 26 points, Lacey Russell scored 25 and Tamara Mathis added 16 for Canon-McMillan (12-9) in a nonsection victory.

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic 65, Mars 59 — Tess Myers had 26 points to guide Class 4A No. 1 Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic (19-3) to a nonsection win. Tai Johnson scored 21 points and Lauren Wasylson added 20 for Class 5A No. 4 Mars (17-5).

Carlynton 54, Cornell 39 — Angelicah Diallo scored 21 points and Jada Lee added 19 for Carlynton (7-15) in a nonsection win.

Charleroi 67, West Greene 40 — Kaitlyn Riley had 23 points as Class 3A No. 5 Charleroi (19-3) won a nonsection game. Kaitlyn Rizor scored 12 points for Class A No. 2 West Greene.

Chartiers-Houston 58, Brownsville 24 — Alexa Williamson scored 34 points to guide Class 2A No. 3 Chartiers-Houston (17-5) to a nonsection win.

Derry 46, Greensburg Salem 39 — Destiny Roberts' 18 points helped lead Derry (3-18) to a nonsection victory over visiting Greensburg Salem (8-14). Megan Kallock had 19 points for the Golden Lions.

Elizabeth Forward 75, Highlands 40 Elizabeth Forward (13-7) jumped out to a 47-20 halftime lead in a nonsection victory. Renee Cebula put up a team-high 21 points and 12 rebounds for Highlands (2-17).

Fox Chapel 55, Armstrong 45 — Sarah Sheerer scored 12 points to lead Fox Chapel (9-13) to a nonsection win over Armstrong (15-7).

Hampton 52, Butler 48 — Ali Collins had 23 points and Laryn Edwards added 22 as Class 5A No. 5 Hampton (18-4) won a nonsection game.

Latrobe 63, Connellsville 36 — Laura Graytok had 25 points and Shelby Wetzel added 11 for Latrobe (16-6) in a nonsection victory. The Wildcats led 28-19 at halftime.

Leechburg 49, Winchester Thurston 47 — Behind Mikayla Lovelace's 16 points, Class 2A No. 4 Leechburg earned a nonsection win over Class A No. 1 Winchester Thurston (16-5) in their regular-season finale Monday.

Cameron Davies scored 15 points, all on 3-pointers, for Leechburg (18-4).

Mohawk 63, Central Valley 51 — Karly McCutcheon had 18 points and Megan Meyer added 17 for Class 3A No. 3 Mohawk (18-4) in a nonsection win. Kaelyn Underwood tallied 27 points for Class 4A No. 5 Central Valley (15-5).

Mt. Pleasant 54, Steel Valley 45 — Chloe Jaworski had 18 points and Colleen Trainer added 11 as Mt. Pleasant (8-13) earned a nonsection victory.

North Allegheny 61, West Allegheny 50 — Bolstered by a 24-3 start, Class 6A No. 1 North Allegheny (22-0) completed an unbeaten regular season with a nonsection victory. Madelyn Fischer had 18 points for the Tigers. Grace Faulk had 16 points for West Allegheny (16-6).

Peters Township 56, Norwin 55 — Marisa Makenna had 23 points to lead No. 2 Peters Township (19-3) to a nonsection win. Magen Polczynski and Danielle Rosso each had 12 for No. 4 Norwin (11-9).

Quigley Catholic 69, Fort Cherry 39 — Taylor Kirschner had 29 points and Hailey Drutarosky added 18 as Quigley Catholic (14-8) won a nonsection game.

Shady Side Academy 53, Deer Lakes 35Shady Side Academy (11-10) put up 22 points in the third quarter and downed playoff-bound Deer Lakes in the teams' regular-season finale. Anna Solomon led Deer Lakes (9-13) with 10 points.

Oakland Catholic 70, Plum 45Oakland Catholic (14-8) jumped out to a 41-13 halftime lead to put the game away early. MacKenzie Lake led Plum (6-16) with 10 points.

Hockey

Bishop McCort 5, Fox Chapel 2 — Chase Villani scored one goal and recorded one assist for Fox Chapel (10-7).

Sewickley Academy 5, Kiski Area 3 — Jonathan Hartill, Dawson Rollinger and Austin LaPiana scored one goal each for Kiski Area (9-9) in a Class A loss.

Burrell 5, Morgantown 2 — The Bucs scored four unanswered goals in the third period for a comeback Division II win over Morgantown (5-9). Tyler Stewart recorded a hat-trick along with two assists for Burrell (13-4).

Norwin 6, Deer Lakes 5 (OT) — At Center Ice Arena, Nicholas Pingree scored on an assist from Jacob Dally in overtime as Norwin (8-10) won a PIHL Class A game. Daniel Good, Dally, Mason Pivarnik, Bryce Hegedus and Josh Hoffman also scored for the Knights. Ryan Murdock had five goals for Deer Lakes (8-9).

Shaler 5, Hempfield 2 — Cameron Wycich had two goals and three assists for Shaler (9-7) in a PIHL Class AA win at Alpha Ice Complex. Jared Gerger had a goal and assist, and Nolen Ferree made 52 saves for Hempfield (9-6).

Upper St. Clair 8, Penn-Trafford 3 — Quinn Giacobbe had a hat trick in leading Upper St. Clair (10-6) to a PIHL Class AA win at Ice Castle. Gavin Patrick, Jack Hughes and Nicholas Bernard scored for Penn-Trafford (9-9).
