Caden Cherico scored 22 points to lead Baldwin to a 61-58 victory over North Hills in double overtime at the PBC Hall of Fame Classic at North Hills on Saturday.

Nate Wesling added 16 and Max Marzina had 10 for the Highlanders (16-1).

Evan Golvash had a steal and layup with 37.5 seconds left in the second overtime to give Baldwin a 59-58 lead. Max Marzina blocked a shot, got the rebound, was fouled and made two free throws with 14.1 seconds left to give the Highlanders a 61-58 lead.

A hurried 3-pointer by North Hills’ Ryan Carey missed at the buzzer.

Nathan Schanbacher scored 24 and Jackson Long finished with 17 for North Hills (6-12), which played without top scorer Zach Pollaro due to illness. Pollaro hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointers to give North Hills a 44-43 win over Seneca Valley on Friday night..

Aliquippa 57, Penn Hills 43 – Joshua Pratt hit for 29 points and Qa’lil Goode added 11 to lead Aliquippa (12-3) at the PBC Hall of Fame Classic at North Hills.Calix Clark scored 16 points and Amon Hawthorne added 15 for Penn Hills (8-7). The Quips trailed 31-30 after three quarters before erupting for 27 points in the fourth.

Ambridge 65, Beaver Falls 59 – Jared Astorino had 19 points and Adam Fernandez added 17 as host Ambridge (3-11) beat Beaver Falls (1-15) at the PBC Hall of Fame Classic. Owen Buchanan added 11 points for Ambridge. Jason Frank scored 22 points for Beaver Falls and Dajuan Flenory tallied 17 points.

Avonworth 80, Northgate 57 – A night after scoring his 2,000th career point, Rowan Carmichael hit for 25 more in a win for Avonworth (14-2) at the PBC Hall of Fame Classic at North Hills. Evan Loutzenhiser and Tom Werner each added 12 and Noah Goetz had 10 for the Antelopes. Des Williams scored 15 points and Anthony Barron and Kaden Kemp each added 10 for Northgate (9-6).

Blackhawk 73, West Allegheny 60 – Tyler Heckathorn had 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead Blackhawk (5-11, 2-7) to the Section 4-5A win over Moon (7-11, 2-7). Carter Davis added 20 points and 12 rebounds while Marco Fusetti contributed 14 points for the Cougars. Jonah Buglak led West Allegheny with 21 points while Donovan O’Connor added 17.

Cheswick Christian Academy 76, Westmoreland Christian Academy 24 – Joseph Rosio scored 21 points to lead Cheswick Christian Academy (6-0) to a Southwestern Christian Athletic Conference win against Westmoreland Christian Academy (0-6). Brady Rochkind added 18 points and Keith Booth contributed 13 points for Cheswick Christian, which led 35-5 after one quarter. Brady Painter tallied 12 points in the loss.

Ellwood City 59, Carlynton 54 – Kaleb Servick scored 19 points as Ellwood City (12-6) beat Carlynton (7-10) at the PBC Hall of Fame Classic at Ambridge. Aaron Lake added 13 points for Ellwood City and Maykel Cuevas chipped in 11 points. Devonte Dean led Carlynton with 17 points while Damien Holloway and Dewayne Fisher contributed 10 points each.

Hopewell 77, Washington 41 – At the PBC Hall of Fame Classic at Ambridge, Zach Kovell and James Armstrong scored 16 points each as Hopewell (7-9) defeated Washington (4-11). Zach Gigliotti added 10 points for Hopewell while Tristan Reed and Vince Johnson scored 13 and 11 points respectively for Washington.

Kiski Area 79, Indiana 61 – Colin Keller hit six 3-pointers and finished with 24 points to lead Kiski Area (9-6, 7-1) past Indiana (6-11, 3-6) in Section 2-5A. Carson Heinle followed with 23 points and Amaree Gonzalez added 12 for the Cavaliers. Dom Kowchuck scored 19 points and Darius Webb had 16 for Indiana.

Ligonier Valley 63, Greensburg Salem 50 – Parker Hollick hit six 3-pointers and finished with 27 points and Michael Wisniewski added 21 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead Ligonier Valley (9-7) at the Shootout at Seton Hill. Braedon Leatherman scored 20 and Tyler Martin added 15 for Greensburg Salem (4-12). The score was tied 44-44 after three quarters before the Rams pulled away.

Mars 56, South Fayette 51 – Austen Wroblewski scored 21 points as Mars (11-7) beat South Fayette (13-5) in overtime at the PBC Hall of Fame Classic at North Hills.

Quaker Valley 47, Lincoln Park 31 – Nic Cohen scored 17 points to lead Quaker Valley (12-4) past Lincoln Park (2-14) at the PBC Hall of Fame Classic at Ambridge.

South Range (OH) 65, Mohawk 51 – Luke Rogan scored 28 points and Tommy Titus added 11 to lead South Range to a nonsection win. Bobby Fadden scored 29 points for Mohawk (11-4).

South Side 68, Rochester 46 – Andrew Corfield scored 25 points to lead South Side (11-7, 5-5) to the Section 4-2A win over Rochester (5-12, 2-8). Mateja Pavlovich contributed 10 points for South Side. Jayvin Hemer paced Rochester with 19 points while Bobby George added 17 points.

Girls basketball

Bishop Canevin 65, Monessen 14 – Kya Cooley had a career-high 23 points and Isabella Sysak contributed 19 points and 13 assists as Bishop Canevin (9-6, 4-5) downed Monessen (3-10, 1-8) in Section 2-A play. Gianna Matthews chipped in 10 points for Bishop Canevin while Madison Johnson led Monessen with 10 points.

Central Valley 66, New Castle 41 – Nyah Hayes scored 20 points to lead Central Valley (11-5) to a nonsection win against New Castle (7-10). Izzy Miller added 12 points for Central Valley while Rihanna Boice and Karma Cialella scored 10 points each for New Castle.

Greensburg Central Catholic 60, McKeesport 29 – Erica Gribble scored 21 points and Jayla Peterson added 16 as Greensburg Central Catholic defeated McKeesport at the Shootout at Seton Hill. The Centurions (11-3) jumped out to a 24-10 lead after the first quarter and held a comfortable lead from there. Emily Eisenberg scored 13 points to lead McKeesport (4-14).

Indiana 50, Kiski Area 28 – Julia Antonacci hit six 3-pointers and finished with 22 points to lead Indiana (13-3, 7-1) to a Section 2-5A win. Gianna DeVito scored 11 for Kiski Area (9-7, 3-5).

Riverview 66, Frazier 34 – Isabel Chaparro scored 21 points as Riverview (10-3, 5-1) beat Frazier (5-11, 1-5) in a Section 4-2A game. Lily Bauer added 18 points while Katerina Tsambis contributed 16 points for the Raiders. Allie Yauch scored 25 points for Frazier.

Serra Catholic 50, Clairton 46 – Bella Dumbroski scored 22 points and Nikki Sfanos added 10 to send Serra Catholic (10-6, 8-2) to a Section 2-A win. Iyanna Wade scored 26 points for Clairton (10-3, 8-1).

Shady Side Academy 69, South Allegheny 16 – Cassie Sauer scored 20 points to lead Shady Side Academy (17-0, 10-0) past South Allegheny (2-13, 2-6) in Section 2-3A play.

Winchester Thurston 72, Seton LaSalle 59 – In nonsection play, Alexis Bonsah’s 17 points led five players in double figures for Winchester Thurston (13-2) in its win over Seton LaSalle (11-5). Sky Still added 14 points, Aleah Cooper 13, DaShae Cochran 12 and Jasmine Hollins 11. Seton LaSalle’s Tiara Curry led all scorers with 20 points and teammate Addie Lonergan added 17.

Boys wrestling

Fred Bell tournament – Mario Hutcherson and Mark Gray took titles and Kiski Area finished second in the team race in Grove City. Hutcherson beat Cochranton’s Cash Morrell, 14-4, in the 172-pound final and Gray blanked Fort Cherry’s Braeden Welsh, 13-0, in the finals at 189.

Other WPIAL champions were Moon’s Cael Yanek (133), Pine-Richland’s Dominic Ferraro (139), West Mifflin’s Cooper Dietz (160), Belle Vernon’s Elijah Brown (215) and Laurel’s Casey Wilson (285). Host Grove City won the team title with three champs.

Thomas Automotive Wrestling Classic – Burrell, Beth-Center and Frazier wrestlers each claimed two titles in Bedford. Burrell’s Carter Thomas (121) and Julian Bertucci (139), Beth-Center’s Mason Wright (139) and Malachi Peak (189) and Frazier’s Jonah Erdely (152) and Ryan Celaschi (160) won in the finals.

Ultimate Warrior – With four wrestlers earning top four finishes, Derry took home the team title from West Branch. Mason Horwat won the 152-pound bracket, defeating Bradford’s Jordan Thompson, 7-2, in the finals. Anthony Mucci (133) was a runner-up and Ewan Olson (160) and Brady Brown (189) took third. Other WPIAL wrestlers taking titles were Indiana’s Nico Fanella (133) and Bentworth’s Owen Ivcic (160).

Girls wrestling

Butler tournament – Canon-McMillan crowned a pair of champions, Marlee Solomon and Evangeline Gray, to win the team title. Solomon beat Pine-Richland’s Aariona Strader in the 124-pound finals and Gray pinned New Castle’s Kaylee Flowers at 148.

Kiski Area also crowned two champs in Ava Golding and Alyssa Tresco. Golding beat Connellsville’s Janayah Nobles, 9-8, at 136 and Tresco defeated Saegertown’s Sarah Groger, 13-2, at 142. Other WPIAL champs were Connellsville’s Trinity Moore (112) and Plum’s Alaina Claassen (190).
