Philly MCS Charter Too Mighty for Lincoln Park in PIAA Boys A Finals

The Lincoln Park Leopards ran into a mighty buzz saw in the Philadelphia Math, Civics and Sciences Mighty Elephants on Friday afternoon in the PIAA Class A boys final at the Bryce Jordan Center, falling 70-55. The Elephants won their first ever PIAA title, led by Jeremiah Worthen as the super sophomore finished with 22 points.

Lincoln Park led only once in the contest on the opening bucket seventeen seconds in. MCS held a 17-12 lead after one, the Mighty Elephants extended the lead to nine before the Leopards cut the lead down by one to four 33-29 at the half. MCS hit on four three pointers in the opening half, while Lincoln Park was 0-3 behind the arc.

MCS took a ten point lead in the opening minute of the third to go up by 10 points and continued that lead into the fourth quarter. Lincoln Park pulled to within three points at 52-49 in the first minute of the fourth quarter, but MCS slowly pulled away to claim the gold.

Warren Dogan added 18 points and Tyreek Riddick scored 11, Worthern grabbed 12 of MCS' 35 rebounds. The Mighty Elephants were 6 of 16 from behind the arc and shot 43 percent for the game. MCS finishes at 26-5.

Chaquille Pratt scored 27 points for the Leopards, Devontae Watson scored 13 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Lincoln Park shot 21 of 58 for the game and 1-11 from behind the arc, the Leopards were 11 of 23 from the foul line and finish 21-8 overall.
