Pittsburgh high school roundup: Mt. Lebanon girls upset No. 1 Peters Township

Three top-ranked soccer teams suffered defeats Wednesday night as the season enters the final stretch of games.

In girls soccer, Mt. Lebanon upset Class AAAA No. 1 Peters Township, and Serra Catholic edged Class A No. 1 Greensburg Central Catholic in overtime.

In nonsection boys soccer, Class AA No. 1 South Park fell to Franklin Regional.

Girls soccer

Mt. Lebanon 2, Peters Township 1 — Michelle Malizio scored with 6 minutes left to give Mt. Lebanon (6-6-1, 4-3) a Section 2-AAAA victory. Bridget Caste also scored for the Blue Devils, who lost 1-0 at Peters Township on Sept. 27.

Hannah Stuck scored off a corner kick for Peters Township (11-2, 5-2), which has lost two of its past five games after starting the season 8-0.

Canon-McMillan 4, Baldwin 2 — Addie Roman scored three times as No. 3 Canon-McMillan (7-3-2, 5-1-1) won a Section 2-AAAA game.

Upper St. Clair 3, Bethel Park 0 — Nikki Gibbons, Katy Hall and Mia Snyder scored to guide Upper St. Clair (5-4-2, 3-2-1) to a Section 2-AAAA victory.

Seneca Valley 6, North Hills 0 — Breanna Valentovish and Lauren Sileo each scored twice as Seneca Valley (9-3, 5-2) won in Section 1-AAAA.

South Fayette 6, Hopewell 1 — Emily Battistone, Autumn Heineman, Rachel Weis, Brenna McGuire, Rachel Helbling and Helina VanBibber scored to help South Fayette (8-3-3, 7-3-1) capture a Section 4-AAA win.

Waynesburg 6, Charleroi 0 — Madison Clayton scored three times to lift No. 3 Waynesburg (11-1, 8-0) to a Section 3-AA victory.

Serra Catholic 5, Greensburg Central Catholic 4 (OT) — A penalty kick in overtime led Serra Catholic (6-6, 5-3) to a Section 1-A victory over the No. 1-ranked Centurions (8-2, 8-1). Sydney Ward, Sara Orndoff, Brenna Springer and Sam Felder scored for Greensburg Central Catholic.

Boys soccer

Franklin Regional 3, South Park 1 — Zach Guidry and Shane Popko scored for Franklin Regional (11-2) in a nonsection win over Class AA No. 1 South Park (10-1).
