While we can all hope that the arctic air soon exits the area, there was some change in both the boys and girls Trib 10 basketball rankings this week.
On the boys side, Montour picked up a big win in a battle of power-ranked teams when it defeated Chartiers Valley for the second time this season. That victory keeps the Spartans at No. 1.
However, two teams had their grip on the power rankings slip away for now as a pair of Section 1-6A teams in New Castle and Fox Chapel lost and slid out of the Trib 10.
Taking their place on the slippery slope are Uniontown and Greensburg Central Catholic.
Only two teams tasted defeat on the girls side of the power rankings this past week.
Upper St. Clair lost to Shaler and dropped two spots while Peters Township fell to Olentangy (Ohio) and dropped from No. 1 to No. 2.
That opens the door for three-time district champion South Fayette to take over the top spot in the girls power rankings.
Here are the latest Trib 10 basketball power rankings with overall record and last week’s ranking. These rankings have zero classification boundaries.
