Three teams slipped out and one team on top dropped down a rung this past week in the Trib HSSN girls basketball state rankings.

Upper Dublin in Class 6A, Erie Cathedral Prep in 5A and Elk County Catholic in A all lost their spot in the state Top 5 with losses, replaced by Garnet Valley, Hollidaysburg and St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy.

Not all losses cost their team a spot in the rankings, though, as several teams tasted defeat but held on to a Top 5 spot.

One of them was Wilmington, which fell from No. 2 to 3 after losing a District 10 showdown to top ranked Kennedy Catholic in Class 2A.

There was a switch at the top in Class 5A as WPIAL teams South Fayette and Peters Township flip-flopped at No. 1 and 2 following the Indians’ loss to Olentangy (Ohio).

The other five No. 1 teams remain the same from last week with Hazleton in 6A, Scranton Prep in 4A, Shady Side Academy in 3A, Kennedy Catholic in 2A and Bishop Guilfoyle in A.
