Most of the elite teams across the state took advantage of a fabulous Friday of weather to take care of business and register another victory.

However, there were three teams ranked in the Trib HSSN rankings that were bitten by defeat on Friday the 13th and dropped out of the Top 5.

Jersey Shore in 4A, Hickory in 3A and Bald Eagle in 2A exited for now while Wyomissing, Sharon and Williams Valley entered the rankings this week.

Class 2A power Southern Columbia lost to Mount Carmel in a defensive battle, 7-6, dropping the Tigers to 2-2 overall. Both losses have come against schools in higher classifications, so the seven-time defending PIAA champions hang on to the No. 5 spot this week.

Once again, there were no changes at the top in each class with St. Joe’s Prep in 6A, Peters Township in 5A, Aliquippa in 4A, Northwestern Lehigh in 3A, Troy in 2A and Bishop Guilfoyle in A remaining at No. 1.
