31 out of 32…….

I am a retired teacher from the Sto-Rox School District. During the 1982-83 basketball season, I attended 31 of the 32 games they played that undefeate year.  The game I missed was the Quaker Valley away game which was being played in the afternoon. Since the Vikings had won handily in the first meeting, I decided not to go. My friend called me from the gym and told me how they almost lost. They won in overtime…”TERRIBLE OFFICIATING !” said my biased friend. Of course I had no way of knowing they would go undefeated. But I did see the remainder of the games including the state championship in the old Hershey Arena where the Vikings came from behind to defeat Tamaqua High School. To this day, my buddy still teases about his seeing all the games that wonderful season. The movie “Hoosiers” reminds me of that wonderful 82-83 season. . .
