MONDAY

Baseball

While most of the WPIAL playoff spots have been determined, teams will play a few nonsection games during the final week of the regular season to tune up for the postseason.

Latrobe (8-8) hosts neighboring Ligonier Valley (10-5) at 7 p.m., and Penn-Trafford (9-5) hosts Gateway (12-3).

• Section 2-A leaders No. 2 Jeannette (11-1, 9-1) and No. 4 Greensburg Central Catholic (10-4, 9-1) still have two section games left. Jeannette plays at Monessen.

Greensburg Salem (9-5, 8-4), another local playoff team will close Section 1-4A play at home against Indiana (2-11, 2-11).

Softball

A good playoff tuneup at Graham-Sobota Field in Latrobe has 5A No. 2 Penn-Trafford (13-3) visiting the 6A top-ranked Wildcats (9-2).

Southmoreland (7-4) travels to Ligonier Valley (12-3).

Boys tennis

The WPIAL individual postseason continues with section doubles tournaments around the league.

Track & field

The WPIAL team championships are slated to be held at 4 p.m. at Baldwin.

Hempfield, Norwin, Butler and North Allegheny will have boys and girls teams in the Class AAA finals. The Class AA boys field has Riverside, Freedom, Mohawk and South Park. The girls AA teams are Shenango, Beaver, Mohawk, and Burrell.

Girls lacrosse

A Section 2-AAA game to watch is Norwin at Latrobe, and Franklin Regional at Oakland Catholic is notable in Section 1-AA.

TUESDAY

Softball

Co-leaders Franklin Regional and Penn-Trafford continue to battle for the Section 1-5A title. Both have important games, with Penn-Trafford hosting Greensburg Salem, and Franklin Regional home to Plum.

• Perhaps the best game on the schedule is Belle Vernon at Yough in Section 2-4A. It is a rematch of last year's WPIAL championship. Yough has clinched its fourth consecutive section title.

• Nonsection action has unbeaten Mt. Pleasant at Southmoreland and North Allegheny at Hempfield.

Baseball

After the postponement of their night game Friday, rivals Jeannette and Greensburg Central Catholic will meet at 4 p.m. at Hempfield Park in a showdown for the Section 2-A title.

• Penn-Trafford plays an intriguing nonsection game against Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic at 7 p.m. at Kelly Automotive Park in Butler.

Mt. Pleasant visits Yough in a local matchup.

WEDNESDAY

Softball

A pair of decent nonsection games to watch are Connellsville at Penn-Trafford and Belle Vernon at Monessen in a Mon-Valley rivalry game of returning WPIAL finalists.

Baseball

Playoff teams will meet when Penn-Trafford takes on Franklin Regional at Haymaker Park in Murrysville.

THURSDAY

Softball

The WPIAL is scheduled to release playoff pairings. A few remaining nonsection games won't impact seedings, including Bethel Park at Penn-Trafford and Norwin at Franklin Regional.

Baseball

Latrobe is set to visit Derry in a nonsection rivalry game.

Boys tennis

The top finishers from section tournaments will compete in the WPIAL doubles championships.

Boys lacrosse

The WPIAL will announced opening-round playoff matchups.
