Westmoreland high school roundup: Penn-Trafford rolls past Woodland Hills

John Gay ran for 166 yards and two touchdown and Caleb Lisbon added 147 rushing yards and a TD to lead Class 5A No. 2 Penn-Trafford to a 34-8 nonconference victory over Woodland Hills (1-3) at the Wolvarena.

Cam Laffoon threw for 127 yards and one touchdown for Penn-Trafford (4-0).

Belle Vernon 17, Ringgold 14 — Jared Hartman scored on a 7-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, and No. 3 Belle Vernon's defense made it stand in its Big 9 Conference win over Ringgold (1-2, 1-2). Logan Pfrogner scored on a 36-yard punt return for Belle Vernon (3-0, 3-0), which also got points on a 34-yard field goal by Cameron Guess. Bo Haines ran for one touchdown and threw for another to pace Ringgold.

Clairton 38, Greensburg Central Catholic0 — Devlin Clifford and Tre'sean Howard scored on interception returns of 76 and 49 yards, respectively, as top-ranked Clairton (3-0, 3-0) shut out Greensburg Central Catholic (1-3, 0-2) in Eastern Conference play. Howard also rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns and quarterback Brendan Parsons threw for 144 yards and a TD.

Fort Cherry 33, Monessen 6Monessen fell to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the Tri-County South after a loss to Fort Cherry (2-1, 1-1).

Hopewell 47, Yough 27 — Tyler Sabo returned the opening kickoff 89 yards for a TD and added a TD on a 65-yard fumble return as Hopewell (3-1) defeated Yough (0-4) in nonconference play. Deshaun Sanders ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Dustin Shoaf paced Yough with 204 rushing yards and three TDs. Yough led by one at the half.

Ligonier Valley 42, Penns Manor 0 — Aaron Sheeder ran for 140 yards and a touchdown and Jackson Daugherty added 119 rushing yards and two TDs as Ligonier Valley (4-0, 4-0) blanked Penns Manor (1-3, 1-3) in the Heritage Conference. John Caldwell added 123 passing yards and a rushing touchdown.

Girls soccer

Norwin 2, Seneca Valley 1 — Emily Harrigan and Lexy Kendro scored, and Kendro and Abby Bartos had assists as Class AAAA No. 1 Norwin (5-0) won a nonsection game.
