The girls javelin field at the TSTCA Outdoor Championship will have two defending WPIAL champions Saturday with Elizabeth Forward’s Brianna Spirnak and South Park’s Maura Huwalt each scheduled to throw at West Mifflin.

Spirnak won the Class 3A title last season and Huwalt won 2A.

The TSTCA event has more than 30 teams registered on what will be a busy track day around the WPIAL.

Also scheduled Saturday is the Cal Track Carnival in California, the Beaver County Championships in Ellwood City and the Lady Spartans/Wildcat Invitational in Latrobe.

The TSTCA schools list includes Butler and Baldwin, among others.

Butler features senior pole vaulter Jack Codispot, who holds the state’s top mark so far this season at 15 feet, 2 inches. The vault set a personal best for Codispot, who cleared 14-6 last spring when he placed second in the WPIAL and fifth in the state.

Baldwin is led by twin brothers Bailey and Brendan O’Malley, who are seniors. Bailey won the WPIAL shot put title last season and Brendan took second in the long jump.
