Herald Spotlight Athlete: Fox Chapel’s Maria Luciana

Maria Luciana, a junior on the Fox Chapel swim team, continued her strong season last week with four first-place finishes against Peters Township.

She won the 100-yard free, the 200 free and was on the winning 200 and 400 free relay teams. She's been swimming competitively for 11 years and hopes to continue in college, where she plans to major in biomedical engineering.

What sport would you be playing if not swimming?

I'd be running track.

What is your favorite vacationdestination?

I like the Gulf side of Florida.

Who's your favorite Pittsburghathlete?

Sidney Crosby.

What three items have to be in your refrigerator?

Cheese, orange juice and ranch dressing.

If you could go somewhere you've never been before, where would you go?

Iceland.

What is your favorite TV show?

“The Office.”

What would make up your all-time favorite meal?

Chocolate ice cream with Belgian waffles and strawberries.

What junk food do you have a weakness for?

Cool Ranch Doritos.

Is there a food you refuse to eat?

Kale.

What celebrity or celebrities do you find annoying?

I find the whole Kardashian family to be extremely annoying.

Who would be your dream date?

Leaonardo DiCaprio or Chris Pine.
