SHIPPENSBURG — Avonworth/Northgate senior Hunter Robinson was a double winner at the PIAA track championships for the second consecutive season.
Robinson defended her 200-meter title in girls Class AAA and added the 400-meter title this season. The Tulane recruit won the 100 and 200 as a junior.
“It was important for me to take each race at a time,” Robinson said. “I didn't want to think about what I had to do because I might have gotten overwhelmed. So I focused on my next race and do my best each time.”
Robinson said winning the 400 was big in her eyes. She won the event in 54.7 seconds at the WPIAL meet and a 54.1 at the state meet.
“It was a big personal record,” Robinson said. “I'm really happy.”
Avonworth/Northgate also claimed two relay medals. The team finished third in the 400-meter relay and fifth in the 1,600 relay.
“I'm proud of how the relays went,” Robinson said. “I wanted to do better. I'm proud of my teammates.”
