Penn-Trafford, Franklin Regional, Hempfield earn late-season victories

Gavin Patrick had two goals and two assists, and Jack Hughes added a goal and three assists to lead Penn-Trafford to an 8-5 win over Latrobe in a PIHL Class AA game at Center Ice Arena.

Ryan Mickey had two goals and an assist, and Joseph Gismondi, Benjamin Leslie and Derek Tamino also added goals. Reno Patrick made 37 saves for the Warriors (10-9), who stayed alive for a Penguins Cup playoff berth.

Brantley Miller scored twice, and Zachary Kubitz, Jared Schimizzi and Lane Ruffner added goals for South/East Division champion Latrobe (13-6). Gage Handwork had 22 saves.

Franklin Regional 5, Shaler 0 — Ethan Yohe scored twice, and Oldrich Virag had a goal and three assists to guide Franklin Regional (11-7) to a PIHL Class AA win at Alpha Ice Complex. Nicholas Carretta and Trent Lunden added goals, and Daniel Soltesz stopped 49 shots for the Panthers.

Hempfield 6, Baldwin 5 — At Kirk Nevin Arena, Jared Gerger had a hat trick, and Christian Konieczka added two goals and an assist to lift Hempfield (11-6-1-1) to a PIHL Class AA victory. Trent Gray tallied a goal and two helpers for the Spartans, who have qualified for the Penguins Cup playoffs.
