Two WPIAL wrestlers brought home titles as Kiski Area’s Ava Golding and Plum’s Alaina Claassen claimed championships at the Powerade girls wrestling tournament Monday at Canon-McMillan.

The 136-pound finals were a rematch of last year’s WPIAL championship match with the same winner. Golding defeated Janayah Nobles of Connellsville, 7-0.

The 190-pound finals featured a clash of two returning WPIAL champs. Claassen, who won at 235 last season, defeated reigning 190-pound champ Natalie Rush of Canon-McMillan, 9-5.

Burgettstown’s Chloe Speicher (106), Brashear’s Tamara Humphries (112), Mt. Lebanon’s Paige Jox (118), Seneca Valley’s Maddee Fischer (130) and Avella’s Abigail Dolanch (142) were runners-up.

Norwin had three third-place finishers in Josephine Dollman (136), Karsyn Champion (155) and Octavia Walker (170).

South Park’s Anna Duncan (124), Kiski Area’s Alyssa Tresco (142), Peters Township’s Liliana Giulianelli (190) and Southmoreland’s Zoey Murphy (235) also took third.
