2 WPIAL teams still standing as championship matchups are set in PIAA football playoffs

The day after Thanksgiving really did turn out to big Black Friday for the WPIAL football champions.

Five took the field and only one survived the state semifinals.

Golden seasons ended for Pine-Richland, Thomas Jefferson, South Park and Fort Cherry with losses in the PIAA final four.

However, District 7 will be sending two teams with Central Catholic in Class 6A and Avonworth in 3A picking up wins and earning a trip to Cumberland Valley.

District 12 will be sending three teams to the finals while Districts 3 and 9, like the WPIAL, will have two teams in Mechanicsburg.

Here are the dates and times for the 2024 PIAA championships at Chapman Field, plus the results thus far through three rounds of the state football playoffs.
