2013 MSA Sports Hometown Softball Program Salute – Elizabeth Forward Warriors

This is the second year for Elizabeth Forward as part of the MSA Sports Hometown Softball Program. The Warriors finished in second place in Class AAA Section 3 last year with a 7-3 record. They finished 14-6 overall after a great postseason run that included victories over Indiana, top-seed Ambridge and Greensburg-Salem before falling to Montour in the 2012 WPIAL Class AAA championship game. The Warriors are off an running and in contention for the section title here in 2013 as they try to make it back to the district playoffs.

Seniors:

Portia McBride – Varsity Pitcher – 2012 McKeesport Daily Newspaper Player of the Year; GPA: 3.0; Current ERA:  1.25 in four games with 1 walk and 31 strike outs.  Current batting average is .286.  Looking to continue to play softball in college at either Mercyhurst or Saint Vincents.

Virginia Roche – Varsity Catcher – Lead the Lady Warriors in hitting in 2012;  Current batting average is .333.  GPA:  4.0.  Will be attending Bloomfield College next fall as a student-athlete.

Katelyn Shinavski – Varsity Left Fielder –  2013 Team Captain.  Current batting average is .385.  GPA: 4.5.  Has been accepted and will attend the U.S. Naval Academy next fall.

Juniors:

McKenna Kern – Varsity First Baseman – 2013 Team Captain.  Finished second in team hitting in 2012.  Current batting average is .400 – leads the team in RBIs with 7.  GPA:  4.64.  Undecided on college or future plans.

Jen Keefer – Varsity Center Fielder – Lead off hitter – leads the team in runs scored (8) with a current batting average of .429.  GPA: 4.4.  Undecided on college or future plans.

Ashley Baker – Varsity Third Base – GPA: 4.5.  Current batting average is .333.  Undecided on college or future plans.

Courtney Hrabosky – Varsity Right Fielder – GPA: 4.2.  Current batting average is .331.  Undecided on college or future plans.

Sophomores:

Caitlyn Arico – Varsity Shortstop – Leads the team in 2013 with a current batting average of .500.  GPA: 2.5.

Kelsey Benedek – Varsity Second Base – Current batting average is .200.  GPA:  3.8.
