Here’s a look at the TribLive HSSN softball all-stars for the 2024 season.

Terrific 10

Lexie Hames

Seneca Valley, jr., P

Hames continued to dominate in the circle and contributed to another championship run. The Clemson recruit went 16-1 with 265 strikeouts in 114 2/3 innings. At the plate, she batted .380 with nine home runs and 27 RBIs. In the WPIAL Class 6A final, Hames pitched all eight innings, allowing two earned runs, four hits, four walks and 19 strikeouts while she was walked four times in a 4-3 victory over Norwin.

Emma Paul

Armstrong, sr., SS

After leading the girls basketball team to its first WPIAL title game appearance, it was time for the senior shortstop to turn hardcourt silver into diamond gold in softball season. The Fairmont State recruit batted .478 with 14 extra-base hits, including seven home runs, 38 runs and 26 RBIs. She had a .609 on-base percentage, .899 slugging and 1.507 OPS. She was terrific in the field as well with a .985 fielding percentage.

Aubrey Police

West Allegheny, jr., SS

As the team’s leadoff hitter and starting shortstop, Police’s bat and glove were instrumental in West Allegheny winning a section title and a playoff game. The Villanova recruit ranked among the WPIAL leaders with 43 runs scored. She batted .506 with 27 RBIs and six home runs, including one blast that counted as her 100th career hit. Showing her quickness, she went 16 for 16 on stolen bases.

Lily Duffill

Chartiers Valley, so., C

The standout power hitter blasted a WPIAL-best 15 home runs, helping Chartiers Valley reach the WPIAL 4A semifinals and win a state playoff game. Duffill batted .507 with 22 runs, 47 RBIs and 22 extra-base hits. She had a 1.288 slugging percentage and 1.887 OPS, striking out only four times in 85 plate appearances. Defensively, she played error free with a team-high 155 total defensive chances.

Mackenzie Reese

Hampton, sr., C/INF

The Pitt recruit helped the Talbots reach the WPIAL finals for the first time. Reese batted .471 with 23 runs and 29 RBIs. Five of her 15 extra-base hits were homers, and she struck out four times in 66 plate appearances. She had a .591 on-base percentage, 1.078 slugging and 1.669 OPS. In the field, she made only three errors in 123 total chances.

Shelby Telegdy

Elizabeth Forward, sr., P

The Seton Hill recruit concluded a standout career by leading EF to a WPIAL title with both her arm and her bat. She had a microscopic 0.54 ERA in 130 1/3 innings, allowing only 23 walks while striking out 199. Telegdy was just as impressive offensively with a .568 average with seven home runs and 36 RBIs. She hit three homers in the playoffs.

Sydney Sekely

South Park, so., P

The sophomore enjoyed a breakout season in helping South Park reach the district title game. Sekely went 16-3 with an ERA of 0.72. In 127 innings, she allowed 14 earned runs and 23 walks while striking out 242. At the plate, she batted .433 with one homer and 13 RBIs with a .465 on-base percentage, .552 slugging and 1.017 OPS. In the WPIAL semifinals, Sekely threw a perfect game with nine strikeouts in the WPIAL 3A semifinals.

Addyson Frye

Neshannock, jr., P

In three seasons, Frye has propelled the Lancers to a 74-1 record with a combined five district and state titles. Frye led the team in hitting with a .492 batting average with six home runs and 33 RBIs. She continued to dominate in the circle as well with a record of 19-0, an ERA of 0.59 with 13 walks and 212 strikeouts in 107 innings pitched. She also had five shutouts in seven postseason games.

Sydney Gonglik

Bentworth, fr., P

The freshman led her Bearcats to the WPIAL 3A finals by striking out more than two batters per inning while posting a .764 batting average at the plate. Gonglik went 17-3 with a 1.03 ERA, 271 strikeouts and 13 walks in 122 innings. As a hitter, she had a .833 on-base percentage with 25 RBIs, 47 runs, 24 extra-base hits and 10 home runs. In 78 plate appearances, she struck out three times.

Ella Richey

Chartiers-Houston, jr., C

The catcher formed a strong one-two punch with pitcher Meadow Ferri on the field and atop the batting order. Richey batted .558 overall, but an incredible .610 during a postseason in which she helped the Buccaneers win the program’s ninth district crown (second most in WPIAL) and first since 2012. In the title game win over Union, Richey had two hits, scored twice and drove home two.
