WPIAL titles: Peters Township 2 (2010, ‘12); Seneca Valley 5 (2007, ‘09, ‘13, ‘14, ‘18)

Playoff path: Peters Township had a first-round bye then defeated No. 8 Pine-Richland, 2-0, in the quarterfinals; and No. 4 North Allegheny, 2-1 in overtime, in the semifinals. Seneca Valley had a first-round bye then beat No. 7 Upper St. Clair, 1-0, in the quarterfinals; and No. 6 Canon-McMillan, 4-1, in the semifinals.

Corner kicks: Sophomore defender Cailin Martin scored in overtime to lift Peters Township past North Allegheny in the semifinals. Sophomore Mandy Pirosko also scored for the Indians. Peters Township won the Section 2 title at 9-0-1. The team outscored opponents 70-9 this season. The only blemish on the unbeaten season was a 2-2 tie with Upper St. Clair on Sept. 11. The Indians have posted 13 shutouts. They had a streak of seven straight shutouts snapped in the semifinals. The Indians had five players selected All-WPIAL — senior midfielder Camryn Klein, senior forward Paige Malley, freshman forward Taylor McCullough, sophomore midfielder Marina Hajnosz and junior keeper Molly Kubistek. McCullough had 12 goals in the regular season. … Junior midfielder Madeline Marcotte led the way for Seneca Valley in the semifinals, scoring a hat trick en route to a 4-1 win over Canon-McMillan. Junior forward Ashlee Libby also scored. The Raiders won Section 3 at 7-0-1. They outscored section opponents 22-4. They lost to Peters Township, 2-1 in overtime, in a nonsection game Aug. 28. The Raiders were represented on the All-WPIAL team by junior midfielder Karly Majeski and Libby. Cassie Leonard led the Raiders in scoring during the regular season with 12 goals. Leonard, Bella Gianfrancesco, Marcotte, Libby, Majeski, Sydney Postier and Cassidy Stopchick were all-section selections.
