2025 Trib HSSN football position-by-position breakdown: Scouting the offensive line

TribLive HSSN will break down the top players at one position per day until Week Zero. Here is a look at the top offensive linemen for the 2025 season.

1. Jimmy Kalis

Central Catholic

Junior, 6-7, 285

Kalis earned first-team all-conference honors as the starting left tackle for a Central Catholic team that won a WPIAL Class 6A title and reached the state finals. His blocks helped the Vikings average 182.1 yards passing and 169.7 yards rushing. The son of a former NFL offensive lineman, Kalis is rated by college recruiting outlets as a consensus four-star prospect. Rivals ranked him as the 17th best offensive tackle nationally in the 2027 class. Older brother Kyle played two NFL seasons (2017-18). Their father, Todd, played seven seasons (1988-95) and started at guard for the Steelers in 1994. Still uncommitted, Kalis has 50 college offers, including 16 teams ranked in the preseason AP Top 25: Texas, Penn State, Ohio State, Clemson, Oregon, Alabama, Miami (Fla.), Arizona State, South Carolina, Michigan, Florida, SMU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Indiana and Tennessee.

2. Brendan Alexander

Central Valley

Senior, 6-4, 270

An impactful two-way lineman for Central Valley, Alexander earned first-team all-conference honors on both sides of the ball in Class 3A. He plays left tackle for the Warriors, but recruiting outlets project him as an interior lineman in college. His blocks helped the team rush for more than 3,000 yards and average 234.5 rushing yards. Website 247Sports ranked him as the 87th-best interior offensive lineman nationally in the 2026 class. He lists Power 4 offers from Pitt, Penn State, West Virginia, Arkansas, Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech, Maryland, N.C. State, Stanford, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Wisconsin. On defense, Alexander made 31 tackles including seven tackles for a loss.

3. John Curran

Pine-Richland

Senior, 6-3, 295

As the team’s left guard, Curran helped the Rams win a WPIAL Class 5A title last season. He earned first-team all-conference honors in the Northeast. Pitt awarded him his first Power 4 scholarship offer in early June after he attended a Panthers camp, and he accepted it. A consensus three-star prospect, Rivals ranked him 124th among interior offensive linemen nationally in the 2026 class. Pine-Richland’s offense averaged more than 300 yards from scrimmage. Curran listed college offers from Akron, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Coastal Carolina, James Madison, Marshall, Miami (Ohio), Ohio and Yale.

4. Santino LaMolinare

Bethel Park

Senior, 6-3, 275

LaMolinare was a first-team all-conference pick in the Allegheny Six. The right tackle was part of the highest-scoring offense in WPIAL Class 5A last year. The Black Hawks averaged 40.6 points and reached the WPIAL semifinals. He drew nine Division I college offers and committed to Duquesne on Aug. 3. His other options were Albany, Bucknell, Lafayette, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Richmond, Stony Brook and Towson.

5. Peter Bonnet

Avonworth

Senior, 6-5, 285

Bonnet’s offensive line cleared the way for Avonworth to win the WPIAL Class 3A title last year and reach the state finals. The left tackle was voted first-team all-conference in the Western Hills. The Antelopes averaged 203.6 rushing yards. Bonnet committed to Navy over offers from Akron, Air Force, Army, Cornell, Dartmouth, Fordham, Fresno State, Lafayette, Miami (Ohio), Monmouth, New Hampshire, Penn, Sacramento State, Stony Brook and Utah State.

Ones to watch

James Halter and Jon Sassic

Central Catholic

The two juniors are starters on a mammoth Central Catholic offensive line, each with a growing list of college offers. Halter (6-5, 270) played tight end before switching to tackle. Sassic (6-6, 285), the left guard, slimmed down some to become more formidable. Both have Pitt, West Virginia and N.C. State among their offers. Halter also has Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan and more.
