How they got here: Neshannock defeated No. 16 Burgettstown, 15-0 in three innings, in the first round; No. 8 Apollo-Ridge, 14-2 in five innings, in the quarterfinals; and No. 12 Bentworth, 4-1, in the semifinals.

Notable: Neshannock has won the last three WPIAL Class 2A softball championships and two out of the last three PIAA Class 2A championships (2024, ’22). The Lancers won the Section 1 title undefeated at 12-0 and outscored section opponents 164-7. All-state senior pitcher Addyson Frye committed to Providence. She has a .560 batting average and a team-best 34 RBIs. In the circle, she is 18-0 and has a 0.78 ERA. Junior center fielder Jaidon Nogay leads the team with a .600 average (30 for 50). She is third on the team with 30 RBIs, six doubles and two triples, and she is second with 25 runs scored. Senior left fielder Miley Anderson’s 33 RBIs are second among the Lancers. Six players are hitting .500 or better. In the semifinal win over Bentworth, Frye struck out 15 and allowed three hits. Also, Frye and senior catcher Gabby Quinn hit home runs for the Lancers.

How they got here: Chartiers-Houston defeated No. 15 Brentwood, 15-0 in three innings, in the first round; No. 7 Seton LaSalle, 6-1, in the quarterfinals; and No. 11 Riverside, 7-1, in the semifinals.

Notable: Chartiers-Houston won the Class A championship 9-5 over Union last year, which was the ninth WPIAL title for the Bucs, the third-most among WPIAL teams regardless of classification. The Bucs also advanced to the PIAA semifinals in 2024. Their lone PIAA championship was in 2010. Returning all-state players from this past season are senior pitcher Meadow Ferri, junior catcher Ella Richey and junior shortstop Lauren Rush, who propelled Chartiers-Houston to an undefeated 10-0 Section 3 title. In the WPIAL semifinal victory against Riverside, Richey went 3 for 4 with two home runs, while Ferri struck out eight and allowed two hits. Rush (3 for 4) also homered and tallied two RBIs. The Bucs’ only loss was to Class 3A WPIAL finalist South Park, 4-3.
