WPIAL players selected to coaches’ all-state field hockey team

Madeline Mill and Georgia Rottinghaus from WPIAL Class 3A field hockey champion Pine-Richland have been selected to the Pennsylvania High School Field Hockey Coaches Association all-state team.

The senior midfielders were instrumental in helping the Rams, as the No. 1 seed, defeat No. 2 Mt. Lebanon, 1-0, for the WPIAL Class 3A title and qualify for the PIAA tournament.

Pine-Richland, which suffered a 2-0 loss to Mechanicsburg in the state first round, finished 20-1 overall.

Mill will continue her athletic pursuits in lacrosse at Pittsburgh, while Rottinghaus will play field hockey Indiana.

North Allegheny’s Kayla Joyce, a senior goalkeeper, also was selected to the Class 3A all-state team. She was part of a veteran class that led the Tigers this year.

NA fell to Mt. Lebanon, 1-0, in a competitive WPIAL semifinal contest.

Joyce, a three-time defensive MVP for the Tigers, has committed to Northwestern.

Mt. Lebanon senior midfielders Addison Evan and Autumn Dowiak were selected to the Class 3A second and honorable mention teams, respectively.
