For the sixth consecutive year, the Moe Rosensteel Most Outstanding Player of Year award will go to the top girls soccer player in the WPIAL.
For the first time, there are four finalists.
The players were announced Thursday. They are:
• Morgan Gesinski, Jr., F, Mt. Pleasant
• Molly Kubistek, Jr., GK, Peters Township
• Emily McKee, So., F, Fox Chapel
• Robin Reilly, Sr., MF, Latrobe
A committee of organizers, media and coaches make up a selection committee, which votes to select a watch list, finalists, and ultimately a winner, which will be announced Nov. 17.
Gesinski led the WPIAL in goals during the regular season with 33. She helped Mt. Pleasant earn the No. 1 seed in the WPIAL 2A playoffs.
Gesinski has 97 career goals.
Kubistek, a Cincinnati commit, is the first goalkeeper to make the list of finalists. She is one of the premier shot stoppers in the WPIAL. She will lead unbeaten Peters Township (18-0-1) into Friday’s WPIAL 4A championship against Seneca Valley.
Peters Township has allowed nine goals all season.
McKee is the first sophomore finalist for the award. She already has over 50 career goals for Fox Chapel, which also will be at Highmark Stadium this weekend.
The Foxes will play South Fayette in Saturday’s WPIAL 3A championship.
Reilly, a two-time finalist, is a West Virginia commit. She finished her prep career as Latrobe’s all-time leader in goals (61) and assists (44).
The Rosensteel Award is named for the late Katelyn “Moe” Rosensteel, a former Ringgold standout.
Past winners are: Ellie Coffield of Mars, Sarah Schupansky of North Allegheny, Kelsey Salopek of Steel Valley, Hailey Longwell of Moon and Lola Abraham of Riverview.
