North Allegheny made it a 3 for 3 sweep for the WPIAL as it captured the PIAA Class AAAA girls volleyball championship Saturday with a 3-0 victory over District 1 champion Bishop Shanahan.

Freeport (AA) and Knoch (AAA) had already won PIAA titles during the day of championship volleyball at Richland High School.

The state title is the first for the Tigers since they won three straight in Class AAA from 1992-94.

NA improved to 24-0 on the season, while Bishop Shanahan (25-1), which attempted to win its first PIAA title since 2009, suffered its first and only loss this season.

The Tigers won Game 1, 25-21, and added wins of 25-12 and 25-16 in Games 2 and 3, respectively.
