8 WPIAL teams advance to PIAA softball quarterfinals

It was a bit of a rough start to the 2025 PIAA softball playoffs for the 18 WPIAL teams.

District 7 teams were a combined 8-10 on Monday.

WPIAL teams from the top three classifications were 5-3, while in the bottom three classes, district teams were a rough 3-7, including 0-3 in Class 3A.

The six WPIAL champions were a combined 4-2.

Moving on to the state quarterfinals are District 7 winners Hempfield in 6A, Hampton in 4A, Neshannock in 2A and Union in A.

Meanwhile, Shaler in 5A and Mohawk in 3A saw their golden seasons come to a sudden end.
