A little over five miles on Thoms Run Road and Oakdale Road separate South Fayette and Chartiers Valley high schools.
While this would make for a natural rivalry between two strong basketball programs, Tuesday will be only the fifth section meeting between the two schools.
The Lions and Colts are new rivals in Section 2-5A this season and meet for the first of two regular-season games Tuesday at Chartiers Valley.
Chartiers Valley is a perfect 4-0 in section games against South Fayette. The two were in the same Class AAA section in the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons.
This season, the Lions are off to a 4-0 start under third-year coach Dave Mislan, while the Colts check in at 2-1 overall under first-year coach Brandon Sensor.
Both teams are tied with Moon and Montour for first place after winning their section opener last week.
Watch the game at 7:30 p.m. on the TribLive High School Sports Network.
Beaver County clash
Three years ago, Aliquippa beat Lincoln Park in the WPIAL Class AA championship game and again in the PIAA semifinals on its way to a perfect 30-0 season.
Last winter, the Leopards knocked off the Quips in the district semifinals on their way to WPIAL gold.
On Tuesday, they meet for the first of at least two meetings at Aliquippa.
There are high expectations for both teams as Lincoln Park is ranked No. 1 and Aliquippa No. 2 in the latest Trib HSSN district rankings, and they are No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, in the first edition of the Trib HSSN state rankings.
The Leopards are 3-0, including victories over Central Catholic and Woodland Hills.
The Quips check in at 2-0, including a four-point win over Blackhawk two days after most of the players concluded their football season with a state championship shutout of Middletown.

Bringing their ‘A’ game
Two other games of note on a busy Tuesday of WPIAL boys section basketball action can be found in Class A.
The former Holy Family Academy now known as Nazareth Prep will find out if it can Dream On when they face defending district champion Vincentian Academy.
The Saints are off to a 4-0 start after edging Cornell in their Section 1-A opener. The Royals are 1-3 out of the gates, but that one win was in their section opener against Rochester by 36 points.
St. Joseph and Propel Andrew Street are both 4-1 coming into their game Tuesday in Munhall.
The Spartans are 1-0 in Section 3, while the Panthers’ lone loss came in their section opener to Clairton this past Friday.
