Troy Kuhn made his college football decision on the eve of signing day.

Kiski Area’s star tight end/linebacker committed Tuesday to Duquesne after visiting the campus over the weekend.

“It definitely takes a lot of stress off of me,” said Kuhn, who also had offers from Robert Morris and Slippery Rock. “I don’t have to worry about it as much anymore. I can just focus on doing what I need to do to be the best player I can.”

The younger brother of former Youngstown State tight end Shane Kuhn and current Slippery Rock defensive lineman Chad Kuhn, Troy Kuhn earned first-team all-conference honors at tight end this season in the Class 5A Northern Conference.

Kuhn finished second on Kiski Area this season in receiving, catching 32 passes for 583 yards and four touchdowns. He also ranked second on the Cavaliers with 70 tackles and led the team with eight sacks.

Wednesday is the opening day of football’s early signing period for Division I and II. The early signing period ends Friday, while the regular period begins Feb. 6.
