WPIAL boys basketball playoff field set

The final WPIAL boys basketball playoff field is set as 78 teams will begin the Path to the Pete with the hopes of striking gold in early March.
There were three ties for fourth place, with West Allegheny and Thomas Jefferson in Section 1-5A and Blackhawk and Beaver in Section 2-4A splitting head-to-head matches and each qualifying for the district postseason.
Springdale and Apollo-Ridge tied for fourth in Section 1-2A, but only the Dynamos are playoff bound as they swept both games against the Vikings.
Here is the final list of teams that have qualified for the boys basketball playoffs, which begin Feb. 15.
Class 6A
(SET with 12 playoff teams which means there will be four first-round byes)
Class 5A
(SET with 13 playoff teams which means there will be three first-round byes)
Class 4A
(SET with 13 playoff teams which means there will be three first-round byes)
Beaver
Class 3A
(SET with 16 playoff teams which means no first-round byes and no preliminary-round games)
Valley
Class 2A
(SET with 12 playoff teams which means there will be four first-round byes)
South Side Beaver
Class A
(SET with 12 playoff teams which means there will be four first-round byes)
