Mt. Lebanon junior Patrick Anderson ran the state’s fastest mile Saturday and four WPIAL athletes won multiple individual gold medals at the TSTCA indoor championships in Edinboro.

Fox Chapel’s Kate Carnevale, Bethel Park’s Emily Carter, Oakland Catholic’s Jayla Ellis and Baldwin’s Brendan O’Malley won two individual events apiece.

Carnevale also helped Fox Chapel win the girls distance medley relay.

Anderson won the boys mile in 4:19.07, just ahead of North Allegheny senior Zachary Kinne (4:19.42). Anderson’s time was the fastest run by any Pennsylvania high school athlete this winter and Kinne’s now ranks second, according to MileSplit statistics.

The PTFCA state championship is Feb. 24 in State College.

Carnevale won the girls 60- and 200-meter runs, Carter won the girls mile and 3,000-meters and Jayla Ellis won the girls 60-meter hurdles and long jump.
