4 WPIAL teams debut in Trib HSSN state baseball rankings

Now that the 2019 high school baseball season is two weeks old, it’s time for the debut of the Trib HSSN PIAA baseball rankings.

The four defending state champs from 2018 are ranked No. 1 in the four lowest classifications while the Class 6A and 5A defending champs, Canon-McMillan in 6A and Marple Newtown in 5A, did not even crack the initial state Top 5.

Four WPIAL teams qualified for the first weekly list, including defending champion Vincentian Academy at the top of Class A.

The others include Moon at No. 2 in Class 5A, Neshannock at No. 4 in Class 2A and Central Catholic at No. 5 in Class 6A.

Here is this week’s Trib HSSN PIAA baseball Top 5 in each of the six classifications, with records through Friday’s games.
