A pair of WPIAL softball teams fell out of this week’s Trib HSSN state rankings; however they were replaced by district teams that beat them.

Both Seneca Valley in Class 6A and Latrobe in 5A were bumped from the weekly Top 5, and replaced by North Allegheny and Penn-Trafford, respectively, after the Tigers beat the Raiders and the Warriors knocked off the Wildcats.

West Greene was the highest-ranked WPIAL team last week at No. 2 in Class A, but this week sees two other WPIAL softball teams moving into the second spot with Mt. Pleasant in Class 4A and Avonworth in 3A on the rise.

Five other teams were knocked out of the Top 5, including defending Class 4A champion Punxsutawney.

There were no changes at the top spot where North Penn, Lampeter-Strasburg, Nazareth Academy, Philipsburg-Osceola, Saegertown and Williams Valley remain at No. 1.
