2 WPIAL sophomores rank among nation’s top football recruits for 2021

Two WPIAL sophomores were ranked this week among the nation’s top football recruits by 247Sports in the websites list of 2021 prospects.

Central Catholic’s Elliot Donald was ranked No. 38 and Gateway’s Derrick Davis was No. 41. They were among eight Pennsylvania recruits to make the 247-player list.

Donald (6-2, 230) is a defensive lineman. Davis (6-0, 180) is a safety and linebacker.

The top-ranked Pennsylvania recruit was Warwick offensive tackle Nolan Rucci (6-8, 266), who has offers from Pitt, Penn State and West Virginia, along with Notre Dame, Texas and others.

St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia had three players on the list: wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (No. 51), quarterback Kyle McCord (No. 113) and linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. (No. 237).

The others from Pennsylvania were Northeast defensive end Elijah Jeudy (No. 119) and Neumann-Goretti safety Tysheem Johnson (No. 217).

The top spot overall in the 247Sports rankings belonged to defensive lineman J.T. Tuimoloau of Eastside Catholic in Sammamish, Wash.

Pickerington, Ohio, quarterback and Ohio State commit Jack Sawyer was ranked second.
