Greensburg Salem senior Malia Anderson ran the fastest time in the state this season to win the girls 800 meters Thursday at the Butler Invitational.

The Georgetown recruit won in 2:13.36, which puts her atop the early-season Pennsylvania rankings, according to Milesplit stats. The state’s previous best was a 2:14.97 run by Cardinal O’Hara’s Christine Mancini on Wednesday.

Anderson’s time was more than two seconds faster than the 2:15.60 she ran March 30 in Latrobe. However, her best this spring overall was a 2:12.58 at the New Balance Indoor Nationals early last month.

Her 3,200-meter relay also won Thursday in 9:36.88.

Kiski Area’s Jean Starr won two individual events with first-place finishes in the girls shot put (39-6½) and discus (118-3).

North Allegheny teammates Zach Kinne and Dan McGoey took first and second in the boys 3,200. Kinne won in 9:13.48, less than four seconds ahead of McGoey (9:17.13).

Aliquippa sprinter MJ Devonshire ran a sub-11 second time to win the boys 100 at 10.99 seconds. He placed second in the 200 at 22.10.
